昼起床。午後、いくつかの店を見て回るが、めぼしいモノはなかった。ネットで探すのがイイのかな?それにしても久しぶりの昼間の伊勢佐木町界隈は、雰囲気が良かった。今度ゆっくり映画でも観てみたい。古本屋やレコード屋もじっくり見てみたいな。一旦、帰宅して店へ。今日は、ロングプレイのDJをT君に頼んだ。一晩に一人、もしくは二人のDJっていうのが良いな。やっている方も楽しいみたいだ。プレイ終了後、下町の話で盛り上がる。以下の文章は、フィッシュマンズ『Oh! Mountain』川崎大助さんのライナーノーツより。
イギリス人のレゲエ(特にダブ)好きというのはかなりのもんで、都市音楽としてのレゲエはロンドンに端を発してブリストルにて成熟した。イギリスの、どちらかというと下町に生きる人の音楽が僕はむかしから好きなのですが、『都市のダブ』には、街が『いま生きている』という猥雑なエネルギーに満ちているからなんだと思う。生きて、生活して、脈動しているときのバックトラックとなるような『生命のビート』。そんな趣を軽くつたえるこのナンバー、今回アルバム初収録。
このライナー。1995年の阪神大震災の直後、地震報道を見ながら書かれているらしく、時々ふと思い出す。
18日になった朝日新聞の夕刊にこんな記事があった。瓦礫の下から21時間ぶりに救助された男性の話。70歳の彼は、瓦礫の下で身動きひとつできず、死を覚悟したという。そのとき、近くで歌が聴こえてきた。"赤とんぼ”の歌声。ベランダのほうで閉じ込められていた妻が、まわりで人の気配がしたので『元気づけなければ』とうたった歌がそれだった。その歌を聴いた男性は、勇気づけられ、救助を待ったのだという。歌なんて、文化なんて、芸術なんて、人間の精神活動なんて、一見なんの役に立ってるんだかわかんない。しかし、本質的には決して無力ではない。僕はこの"赤とんぼ”のような歌を、うたったときのような気持ちを守り、育んでゆくたい。フィッシュマンズの音楽もそうした地点を目指しているのだと思う。
